The Lincolnshire countryside surrounding Humberside airport is packed with exciting attractions and things to do. The airport is actually sandwiched between two traditional football-and-steel-works towns, Grimsby and Scunthorpe. The People's Park is a popular Victorian park and gardens in Grimsby which has attractive floral displays and a heart shaped lake. It also has three temperate glasshouses and some exotic varieties of birds in its aviary. There is a bowling green and croquet lawn as well as a safe children's play area.

The fascinating remains of the Roman-British villa, at Winterton near Scunthorpe, are just to the west of what was a main Roman road between Lincoln and York. Archaeological investigations have uncovered various artefacts including structural evidence, 2nd century pottery, and evidence of late-Roman period bronze-working.

Also worth visiting is Pleasure Island theme park in Cleethorpes, which caters for all ages, with a variety of rides and attractions ranging from the traditional to the latest white-knuckle variety.
